The Shakespeare Project of Chicago


Barbara Zahora (Associate Artistic Director)  has worked with The Shakespeare Project since 2005 when she made her debut as Lady Caroline Pontefract in A Woman of No Importance.  This past season she was seen as Mrs. Malaprop in The Rivals.  Other memorable roles with The Shakespeare Project include Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest, Margaret in Jeff Christian's adaptation of Henry VI, Parts 1, 2 and 3, and Constance Middleton in The Constant Wife.  She has also had the pleasure of working with Peter Garino and other Shakespeare Project artists on educational outreach projects such as Page to the Stage – Macbeth for elementary and secondary schools.  Other Chicago credits include The Doctor's Dilemma, Votes for Women!, John Bull's Other Island, What Every Woman Knows, The Cassilis Engagement, and Getting Married (ShawChicago); The Country Girl (Illinois Theatre Center); The 50-Minute Midsummer (First Folio Theatre); Dancing at Lughnasa (Oak Park Festival Theatre); Marionette Macbeth, The Moliere Comedies, The Taming of the Shrew, Richard II, The School for Scandal, and All's Well That Ends Well (Chicago Shakespeare Theater); Lady Windermere's Fan (Northlight Theatre); A Christmas Carol, Wit (Goodman Theatre); Misalliance (Writers' Theatre); and Hard Times (Lookingglass Theatre).  Barbara has also performed at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, where she was chosen to be part of their International Artistic Residency in 2004.  She currently teaches in Roosevelt University's CCPA Theatre Conservatory, and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association.
